Trailing drawdown follows your account's balance peak: breach level = peak − drawdown, until the peak clears the starting balance + drawdown — at that point most firms lock the level at the starting balance (the "breakeven lock"). Intraday trailing moves with every unrealized high-water mark; end-of-day trailing only advances at the daily close; static drawdown never moves from start − drawdown.
